Fear Factor – Personal Success Style
by Daniel B. Baker

"Fear Factor" is an entertaining TV show and one I confess to watching more than I should.  The show highlights the courage of the contestants to participate in some of the most frightening and disgusting acts anyone can face.

The contestants sacrifice their dignity for the possibility of winning money.  This show demonstrates how you can conquer your fears with proper control of ones thoughts along with determination.

Every person experiences fear.  Almost everyone can point to several fears they carry with them.  There are a number of causes for these kinds of fears including”
   - A past traumatic incident (such as falling off of playground equipment and breaking an arm or leg)
   - Having a parent's fears imposed on us (like being quickly carried away anytime a stray dog came near).
   - Allowing our own ignorance influence our feelings.

How much of your life are you going to allow fear to control? How much of your freedom and success are you going to give up because of your fears?

We all must be on guard against allowing fears to run our lives, we just remember that you can't touch, or feel fear … it's all in our minds!

Do you find yourself envying people who can enjoy the wild roller coaster rides at theme parks? Or people who can get up in front of a group of people and speak? Or people who get out of the dead end jobs they're in and take a risk at something new and satisfying?

I highly recommend that you face your fear head-on.  Use your imagination to help propel you to overcome your fears.  Imagine yourself enjoying the experience instead of dwelling on all the negative what ifs.  (Of course, don't do anything rash or that would endanger your life or well-being!)

Visualization is a great tool in overcoming fear.  See yourself enjoying that ride.  Picture and hear the applause from your public speech.   Hear yourself laughing and joking about that awesome roller coaster.

Are you afraid of heights?  Then imagine yourself being on top of a mountain, overseeing the magnificent sights.  Enjoy and feel the moment. Take away all worries and anxieties.

Determine today … NOW … to overcome those fears and start down the path of success and happiness.  Your determination and drive will empower your success.  If you are taking on something big, start small.   Arrange to talk in front of a small group of people (or just introduce a speaker) if your goal is public speaking.  Start your own business part time before quitting your job.

Take on the Fear Factor Challenge ...  The reward is greater than you can imagine!

Do the things you fear the most and the death of fear is certain.
